Eugene Cernan, an American ex-naval officer and Naval Aviator, who later became a NASA astronaut, fighter pilot, and electrical and aeronautical engineer, had a net worth of $5 million.
Eugene Cernan was born in Bellwood, Illinois in March 1934.
He obtained degrees from Purdue University and the Naval Postgraduate School.
Cernan launched himself three times into space.
He served as the Pilot of Gemini 91 in 1966, the Lunar Module Pilot of Apollo 10 in 1969, and the Commander of Apollo 17 in 1972. He also achieved the 11th position to walk on the Moon on Apollo 17 in the last Apollo lunar landing.
Cernan has been the final human on the Moon since his discovery.
He acted as a backup aviator on the Gemini 12, Apollo 7 and Apollo 14 spacecraft.
After retiring in 1976, Cernan has been inducted into the International Space Hall of Fame and later into the U.S. Aerospace Hall of Fame.
