In October 2013, he selected Helio Fallas and Ana Helena Chacón Echeverra as his Vice-Presidential running mates.

Sols stated that he would work to eliminate corruption, make substantial investments in infrastructure, and strengthen Costa Rica’s universal healthcare and social security system.

The office of Sols was officially opened on May 8, 2014.
