Afeni Shakur, an American philanthropist and former member of the Black Panthers, died in 2016 at the age of $50 million.
Afeni was most famous for being the mother of Tupac Shakur, the West Coast rapper who was fatally shot in his 20s.
Afeni’s wealth was primarily derived from Tupac’s estate, which included royalties, intellectual property rights, and other assets. Besides her relationship with Tupac, Afeni was also known for her past involvement with the Black Panther Party.
Throughout her lifetime, she remained a political activist.
She succumbed to a cardiac arrest in 2016 and died at the age of 69.
