Alexander Skorobogatko, a Russian shipping tycoon, is worth $2.1 billion.
With his partner Alexander Ponomarenko, Skorobogatko built a billion-dollar fortune by completing multiple projects together.
Aleksandr Ivanovich Skorobogatko was born on September 25, 1967, in Gorlovka, Donetsk area (Ukraine), and obtained his Master’s degree from the Plekhanov Russian Academy in 1996.
The formation of a small perfume factory in Ukraine was the beginning of Skorobogatko and Ponomarenko’s mutual establishment.
Following that, they established the Russian General Bank in Moscow, which was instrumental in the port’s operations in Novorossiysk. As a result of Russia’s economic crisis in 1998, the business duo recognized the potential to invest in stevedoring firms in the area, leading to the establishment of Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port.
Skorobogatko and Ponomarenko received a windfall of $1 billion upon its public offering in 2007.
After selling 20% of their properties to Arkady Rotenberg in 2008, the couple teamed up four years later to establish TPS Real Estate Holding Ltd, which had a starting capital of $15.5 billion.
During his tenure as an elected deputy in the State Duma from 2002 to 2011, he was unable to actively participate in the business after being re-elected for a third term.
