The net worth of a Russian senator, Andrei Guriev, is $5 billion.
The state senator of Murmansk Oblast, Andrei Guriev, was born in 1960 and graduated from the State Central Institute of Physical Culture.
His primary source of income is Phosagro, one of the top four phosphor fertilizer manufacturers in the world, which produces phosphates, feed phosphates, and fertilizers.
Guriev, who was once a Moscow communist committee leader, later became a capitalist and worked with Mikhail Khodorkovsky’s Menatep Group as the Chairman of its subsidiary, Apatitna.
Following Khodorkovsky’s trial, Guriev spearheaded a management buyout aimed at taking over Apatity.
A 20% stake in Apatit, the primary source of raw materials, was sold to Fosagro, the state, in 2012.
Apatit is currently owned by Fosagro with a 77% stake.
