Glencore International plc’s CEO, Ivan Glasenberg, has a net worth of $6.3 billion.
Glasenberg is not only the Chief Executive Officer of the world’s largest commodity trading companies, but also a board member for mining companies Xstrata plc and Minara Resources Ltd.
After working in the coal department in South Africa and Australia, he moved to Glencore in 1984.
After being promoted, Glasenberg took charge of the company’s offices in Hong Kong and Beijing, overseeing the Asian coal marketing business and managing the administrative functions.
In 1991, he assumed control of the coal department, which was responsible for managing Glencore’s global coal business, including marketing and industrial assets.
In 2002, Glasenberg became the CEO, and BusinessWeek referred to him as a “lieutenant” in the secretive oil-trading inner circle of Marc Rich, a billionaire commodities trader who was charged with tax evasion and illegal dealings with Iran and later released by the U.S. government. Three years later, Glasenberg was released from prison.

Glasenberg graduated with a BA in Accountancy from the University of the Witwatersand, South Africa, and an MA in Business Administration from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles.
Besides the above, he has achieved success as a race-walker for both South Africa and Israel.
In terms of his private life, he is married and has two children, and he currently lives in the village of Rüschlikon in Switzerland.
