The Managing Director of EMKE LuLu Group of companies, which owns the Lulu Hypermarket chain in the Middle East, is Ali, who recently became a billionaire.
According to reports, the company has an annual revenue of US$ 4.5 billion and provides employment to the largest number of Indians residing outside India.
M.A.Yusuff Ali was born in a small Indian village on November 15, 1955, but relocated to Abu Dhabi in the 1970s to work for his uncle in the EMKE Group of companies.
Yusuff Ali, who holds a Business Management & Administration diploma, established his first Lulu Hypermarket in the 1990s, a time when traditional grocery stores and hypermarkets were being phased out. LuLu Group International now has $5 billion in revenue and more than 100 retail outlets across the Middle East, Africa, and India.
The Lulu Group expands its reach to 21 countries by establishing its first mall in India, as well as diversifying its business activities in healthcare, software, and infrastructure.
