He was born in Harbin, China, on July 27, 1953, and received a BS degree in engineering and physics from the University of Sydney.
Afterward, he continued his education by pursuing his MBA at the University of New South Wales and Harvard University.
After graduating, Hintze enlisted in the Australian Army for three years before moving to New York. In the Big Apple, he received training in financial services and later worked for Credit Suisse First Boston and Salomon Brothers.
After relocating to London, he began his career at Goldman Sachs, where he held the position of Head of Equity Trading.
