Ian David Karslake Watkins was born in Merthyr Tydfil, Glamorganshire, Wales, UK on July 30, 1977, and went on to become a founding member, lead vocalist, and lyricist, of the alternative rock outfit Lostprophets.
After graduating from the University of Wales with a degree in graphic design, Watkins realized that he had found his passion in music.
After perfecting his music skills by performing in various combinations, he joined Mike Lewis and formed the rock band Lostprophets in 1997.
The band, who are part of the Cardiff music scene, have released five studio albums, three EPs, and fifteen singles. Their highlights include two top ten hits on the UK Singles Chart (“Last Train Home” and “Rooftops”) and one number one single on the Alternative Songs chart (“Last Train Home”).
