An American musician named Lloyd Price has a net worth of $2 million.
Lloyd Price, a native of Kenner, Louisiana, was born in 1933 and spent his early years learning piano and trumpet, as well as participating in a gospel choir.
In 1949, he commenced his band and released the song “Lawdy Miss Clawdy”, which reached number one in the U.S.
R&B charts
After five years, Price was drafted and sent to Korea.
“Just Because,” his subsequent single, reached number three on the R&B charts after a return to the United States in 1957.
Price has released over 24 albums since 1959, including “Exciting Lloyd Price” in 1959 and “Mr.” in 1960.
Upon his return to the music industry, Price enjoyed significant success with his song “Stagger Lee”, which sold over one million copies and was featured on several albums including “This is My Band”, 1995’s “Lawdy Miss Clawdy”, and 2002’s “Christmas Classics”.
Dick Clark refused to let Price perform on “American Bandstand” unless he reworked some of the song’s violent lyrics.
After opening a nightclub in Manhattan in the ’70s, Price ventured into property development, constructing townhomes in the Bronx.
His autobiography, “The True King of the Fifties: The Lloyd Price Story”, was published in 2011.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inducted Price in 1998.
