Roy Keane, who was born on August 10, 1971, holds the position of assistant manager at the Republic of Ireland national football team and Aston Villa, an English professional association football club.
He spent 18 years in the game, playing for the Cobh Ramblers, Nottingham Forest, and Manchester United before leaving Celtic, where he played for less than a year.
Following his retirement as a player, he was appointed as the manager of Sunderland, an English association football club. He led the club to victory in the division title and promotion to the Premiere League in late August, having been born into a working-class Irish family that had a strong passion for football, with many of his family members having previously played for junior clubs in the area.
